| | Desktop icons overlaid with security sign... Most of my desktop icons, word files, IE7/Mail have this security icon on their right lower corner. I associated that with TrendMicro AV (vista beta version) but uninstall of that software, manual registry cleaning also did not solve it. Does anyone know what is going on? http://img372.imageshack.us/img372/3015/iconszd9.png Sorry about the externally linked image. But there is no easy way to explain this. |

The little "shield" is indicative of that particular program's need for administrative privileges to run properly and has nothing to do with your previously installed AV solution. | | Re: Desktop icons overlaid with security sign... Internet Explorer, Windows Mail, Welcome Center, Notepad too have that icon on the start menu. I am sure Notepad won't need Admin rights. I am running under an Administrator account. How can I change this behavior? "Mark D. | | Re: Desktop icons overlaid with security sign... I have similar issues with an application I installed. It seemed to randomly select which of my .EXE to put a shield on or not. How do I turn off the shield? Is there something I can set on install to prevent this from happening? Under properties, require admim rights is not checked. -- Matt Froncek www.qodbc.com "IQ70" wrote: > Internet Explorer, Windows Mail, Welcome Center, Notepad too have that icon > on the start menu.
