| | Vista and local DNS ? Im using a laptop with Vista (Business) and IIS 7 for development associating multiple hosts with the same (local 127.0.0.01) IP address Currently I edit the hosts file manually to perform the equivalent of a wildcard DNS entry As far as I know the local HOSTS file does not support the inclusion of a single record DNS wildcard A record So I have to specify every host individually (and there are a lot). It quite time consuming double checking these against my IIS host headers Is there an alternative approach that can be installed on the same machine which will allow me to simple define a single wildcard A record which points to 127.0.0.1 I understand that there are third party DNS products that might be appropriate ? Recommendations? PS If this is not the correct newsgroup , please advise. |
