I turned UAC control on, and IE Protected Mode is now on.

So "Protected Mode" just tells you if UAC is on?

Protected Mode uses a feature of UAC called MIC. With UAC (or MIC) off
it can't work.

Re: Protected Mode is Off

No, Protected Mode is dependent on UAC being enabled.

Good one, and from someone append MVP to their moniker. You want
everyone discussing LCD monitors, CD-RW/DVD-RW drives, or RGB/DVI video
connects to spell them out? Computer science is hardly the only ken
that has a massive proliferation of acronyms. Try being in a room full
of doctors of various practices.

UAC: User Account Control
MIC: Mandatory Integrity Control
UIPI: User Interface Privilege Isolation

The OP (and perhaps you) might find the following helpful to understand
the terms:

"Protected Mode in Vista IE7"

Anyone using codes that others don't understand is not understood, therefore
the person attempting to communicate is not successful.

Of course the actual intended communication here is to make another of many
negative comments so I will avoid providing you with more ammunition. I know
you will be delighted to continue attacking forever.
