OneCare on sale at amazon.com for $20

Just noticed that amazon.com has the standard 3 machine 1 year subscription
for OneCare on sale at $20 - a $30 savings.

I've been using the 1.5 beta on XP and Vista, and I love it!

RE: OneCare on sale at amazon.com for $20

How long does OneCare take to:
1. Tune up your computer?
2. Scan for AV on the computer?

I find both activities on my computer took an unusually long time.

1. From the log, it looks like it took 2.5 hours (01:00 to 03:25). I was
asleep at the time...

2. This is what I like most. I'm not sure how long it takes, but I can
continue working normally during a complete scan. I can also control when it
does its thing.

My previous product (NAV 2006) has a nasty habit of downloading new
definitions and then thrashing the system to death right when I am trying to
do a time-critical stock trade, load video from a camera, edit a movie, or
do something similarly useful - and it does this when it feels like it. In
addition, as soon as I touch the machine on Saturday morning I know
instantly that it did a full scan overnight.

My only gripe is that it doesn't handle firewall blocking notification as
cleanly as the Windows Firewall. The triggering application sees the
connection fail, so you have to retry after you have unblocked it. Some
applications get into a mess, to a retry may not be easy. With Windows
Firewall the process of granting access seemed to be more transparent to the
application. But it's still better than the NAV Internet Worm Protection.

Many thanks for the useful information. I am now encouraged to try Onecare a
bit longer.
