Vista is blocking a program that I want to run

Hey everybody,

I'm new to Vista so please be gentle.

Here is the problem, I've installed a start-up monitor, Win patrol, and
when I first installed it, I had it set to run at startup, with no
problems. I then noticed that I had to run some of my other security
programs as administrator by right clicking them and run as
administrator in the start-menu, namely Spybot S&D and SpywareBlaster,
to get there full protection. I did something similar with WinPatrol, I
don't remember exactly what, but now it always comes up that windows has
blocked only Win patrol from starting up, and I have to right click the
little icon, and click to run Win patrol. My wife may have clicked on
something during start-up, while I was at work.

Any ideas how I can get Vista, to release WinPatrol from being denied
access to run?

Any help would be appreciated.

TIA

Eric

Re: Vista is blocking a program that I want to run

Try this

Start | All Programs | Windows Defender | Tools | Software Explorer

It will probably come under the startup category and you will proabably see
it as disabled.

One thing i would advise is to check the software is compatable with Vista

Failing that let me know

Re: Vista is blocking a program that I want to run

Haveing too many malaware type apps configured, particularly if they are
configered to run on start up (in the background) can cause all sorts of
issues, not least they may so conflict as to not do there intended job
Personally I have a single decent AV app installed, and occassionally
manually run a couple of malaware apps manually, these apps have never found
anything, and I do from time to time visit sites I did'nt ought to.
I also run a browser, with a plugin, that blocks scripts & other nasties,
and are behind both a Firewall & NAT router

Well it is in there but is 'Not yet classified',

I don't see how to classify it or to perminantly allow it though.

Any ideas?

Eric
