| | Found a fix for my Windows Security Alert I have Vista Home Premium with SP1 and SP2 - BitDefender Internet Security 2009 The following steps worked for me to get rid of the Windows Security Alert which was telling me my spyware was turned off. I am going to share it in hopes it will also work for others. 1. Go to Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services (Switch your Control Panel to Classic View so you can easily locate Administrative Tools) 2. Under Services, scroll and find Security Center, right click and stop -- Then find WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation), right click and stop 3. Go to C/Windows/System32/wbem (this is a folder way towards the bottom). Open this wbem folder and delete the folder labeled "Repository" 4. Reboot After following these steps my security alert was gone. I opened the Windows Security Center and it showed my BitDefender spyware module as on. Hope this helps someone else. |
