Administrator privileges for chkdsk

I want to run chkdsk but vista says I need adminstrator clout to do it. This is in the command prompt, of course, so how can that be done, please? Cheers

Re: Administrator privileges for chkdsk

Right-click the command prompt icon and choose run as admin.
Enter the proper credentials in the elevation prompt.
Run chkdsk.

Re: Administrator privileges for chkdsk

Hello Paul,

If you doing this from within Vista, then you will just need to run a elevated command prompt instead. You would right click on the Command Prompt shortcut and click on "Run as administrator" to do this.

Check Disk - chkdsk

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Cheers, Shawn, and thanks for that. I've just entered the vista world from ages with good old XP. I didn't imagine that the right click procedure with "Run as administrator" would work on command prompt. I'll be more adventurous from now on. Many thanks.
