| | Mapped Network Drive Security I am testing on Vista for a product that is a client-server application. The client install runs from the server machine, and whenever the client runs our product, an executable from the server machine runs. The client machine has a network drive mapped to the server machine. Due to this, whenever the product executes, the "Open File - Security Warning" message box pops up and says "The publisher could not be verified." This can be annoying for users, especially since they know and trust our product. I have read on Microsoft online support about how to add file extentions to the "inclusion list for low file types" and also about how to add my mapped network drive to the "trusted sites" list in IE7. This works - the pop ups do not come up when the product executes. The only problem is that this not only disables the pop up box for our product's executables, but for all executables on the mapped network drive, leaving the client machine vulnerable. My question is: how can I disable the "Open File - Security Warning" for only certain files/folders on a mapped network drive without disabling it for file types on the entire drive? I have been searching for an answer for a few days now without success - please help me out. |
