Windows Firewall - Isolation mode

Hi Folks

From my understanding with Isolation mode set, only authenticated users (In
the same AD Forest) can access your PC.

I have created a local rule on a Vista clinet connected to a Windows 2003 AD
forest and then enabled the rule.

With the rule enabled no traffic can connct to the target Vista PC when
Require authentication is set.

Does this feature only work in a native Longhorn/Vista enviroment?

Forgot the mention that it is XP clients that cannot connect to the Vista
client when the rule is set.

Do the XP clients have a matching IPsec rule to allow them to negotiate
authentication? If they don't know to do so then what you are seeing is
expected.

Whooooops.

Thanks Jesper, I have forgot to set a corosponding XP IPSEC rule up. I must
be getting old or just in need of some more coffee.

I will test this tomorrow.

Thanks for your help :-)

RE: Windows Firewall - Isolation mode

Works like a dream :-)

The IPSEC security filter rule on XP has to be set to "Request security"
