Registry Key Permission Change in Windows Vista

Hi. I am having difficulties launching Apple QuickTime Player 7.1.3 on
Microsoft Windows Vista build 6000. I get "Error 46: Could not load or find
the QuickTime ActiveX control." After troubleshooting the problem with
Microsoft Process Monitor 1.01 I traced the root cause of the error down to
permissions on the HKCR\QTOControl.QTControl and HKCR\QTOControl.QTControl.1
registry keys. To resolve the problem I need to grant Read permission on
these keys to the Administrators group. When I use Registry Editor to
    change
permissions for these keys, I get the following error: "Unable to save
permission changes on QTOControl.QT.Control. Access is denied." Any idea on
how I can make this registry key permission change? Thank you.

You don't have permission to change permission on those keys. You need to
take ownership first and then change the permissions.

The better option would be to submit a bug report to Apple and have them fix
    their flawed software.
