Question regarding a program connecting to a sql server

Hi folks,

We have a custom program that connects to a sql express 2005 server. This
program works fine from a windows xp workstation butnot from Vista. I have
tried disabling the firewall. Also when i run SQLCMD or the SQL Management
studio from the vista client i can connect. On the server i get error 18456
severity 14 state 8 login failed for user 'user' [Client: clientIP]. I have
also tried setting compatibillity to xp and 98 etc. It does not matter as
what kind of user (admin or normal or domain admin etc) i use to run the
program. The software is using a SQL user not a windows user to login to the
sql database on the server (server2003).

Thanks for your help!
