Boycott Vista

http://badvista.fsf.org/

“Vista is an upsell masquerading as an upgrade. It is an overall
regression when you look at the most important aspect of owning and
using a computer: your control over what it does. Obviously MS Windows
is already proprietary and very restrictive, and *well worth rejecting*.
But the new *'features' in Vista are a Trojan Horse* to smuggle in even
more restrictions. We'll be focusing attention on detailing how they
work, how to resist them, and why people should care”,

<*note: out of 23+ multi-posts, 8+ different subject lines...*>

I'm all about your right to say whatever you want.
Go for it.

However - could you hone your spamming method of
advertising by learning to cross-post? Seeing this
same thread over-and-over - sometimes with slightly
different subject lines - always unread because you
multi-posted instead is just annoying to me.

It does not want to make me visit your web page or
read the slant you have taken on any web page, but leads
me to believe you are nothing more than a spammer.

Doesn't matter if that is fact or fiction...
It's an impression - just like one would get when watching
late night TV and seeing some of the ads for some of the
ridiculous products and get-rich quick schemes. In other
words - it doesn't shine the most positive light on
whatever message you may be trying to spread.

I am *not* attacking your message. Go for it.

I may not agree with your language or the extremeness of
some of your politics - but I am grateful I don't - or
how boring would this life be?

Re: Boycott Vista

I have tried to browse your site but I am afraid that it operates very, very slowly, is annoyingly erratic and totally fails to impress. But many thanks for the invitation to try.

Re: Boycott Vista

Umh, guys, FSF is the "Free Software Foundation." Also known as the last
major outpost of Communism in the United States; naturally therefore
headquartered in the heartland of the People's Democratic Republic of
Massachusetts. Their aim is to make all software developers work for free for
the good of all mankind.

What else did you think they were going to say about Vista?

You can't help but agree that they have a point about this though:

Re: Boycott Vista

very informative response:

Take a read here - you might learn a few things.
http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut00...ista_cost.html

Personally, I have been Microsoft strong supporter for a very long time (dos
3.x days?)

While I dont have highly valued MVP tag - i do enjoy mcse+i and mcsd cards
in my wallet - hence i'm rather far away from being a linux / open source
zealot.

With that said - Vista & DRM really did it for me and as of right now I'm
busy figuring out which development environment runs better under x windows.
Software doesn't have to be free, but it does have to be functional.

DRM imposes so many restrictions and potential pitfalls on the system it
stops being something I want my system to run.

Finally, if only Microsoft would invest as much time and effort in code
optimization and protection from malicious code as they did in premium
content protection.... well maybe then my credit card data would be swapped
out to disk in encrypted form whereas in todays world it seems to be that
only premium content memory pages have a flag set requiring encryption....

Re: Boycott Vista

And I only followed the quoted reference and feedback my experience - why
provide a reference if you don't expect a response?

1) Well if nobody said it, then nobody cares.

2) We'll get right to that after we defeat the Ghoul.

3) If you see the Greek fleet approaching, hide all the wood, hammers and
nails.
