File access VISTA RC2

I am trying to install acrobat, sounds simple right? Except that the
installation fails because the C:\Window\TEMP folder is 'read only'. Ok, no
problem, I just need to uncheck read only on the TEMP folder right? Well
when I do so it unchecks but as soon as you close it an open it again it is
back to read only. So I thought maybe I had to change the Windows dir to
allow write access first. Well it appears as if that is going to work as it
takes a minute to change the attributes of all the files but same story as
soon as you reopne it it is read only again! I am the administrator amd I
have UAC turned off. I even tried a ugly work around by changing the
enviroment vars to point to a new temp to no avail. How can I fix this?

Re: File access VISTA RC2

Hello,

The "read only" checkbox is always checked (or more correctly in the
'indeterminate' state) on folders. Folders cannot be made read-only in this
way; however, you can use this checkbox to set or clear the read-only
attribute of the files inside of the folder.

I believe you are encountering a bug in acrobat, not a problem with windows
security.

See if this helps:

Re: File access VISTA RC2

Right Click in the Executable and change the compatibility to Windows XP SP2
and then Execute it as Administrator. I had the same problem but this steps
fixed the issue.

RE: File access VISTA RC2

Chopper,

Are you referring to Adobe Acrobat full version or the Reader itself? In any
case, please make sure that you have the Vista compatible version (and
relevant updates) from the manufacturer to gain the best experience on Vista.

HTH.
