Cannot save file to directory

I'm having trouble saving a file to a directory and can't seem to figure out
what's wrong...

Saving from notepad gives the message: "You don't have permissions to save
to this location".

When I view the properties...security...advanced on the folder and go to the
effective permissions tab, I can see that I have full control permissions on
the folder.

I'm a member of the Administrators group on the local machine but not
running under the built-in Administrator account.

What could be the problem?

Is it a system folder, or a self-created folder?

Re: Cannot save file to directory

Hello,

In Windows Vista, applications may not use your administrator power unless
you explicitly give them such permission (through a "Windows needs your
permission" screen).

Applications can either request admin permissions when they start, or, as is
the case with notepad, you will need to manually give it such permission.

Right-click notepad and click Run As Administrator - this will allow notepad
to use your full administrator powers.
