| Guest | DCOM Thumbnail.dll permissions I am gettig a DCOM error - 10016 - with the Thumbnail Cache Out of Proc Server and I believe this is why my Vista PC is crashing, especially when using the media center with the XBOX 360. I have looked on these discussions and found that the problem is due to the security permission for the DLL, yet when I go to component services and try and change the properties, the security TAB is greyed out and I cannot access anything. Any advice please? |

| Guest | RE: DCOM Thumbnail.dll permissions You need to run a MMC and the Add/Remove snap in under the file menu. There you will find component services. | Guest | RE: DCOM Thumbnail.dll permissions Thanks.... That got me in there but, as noted above, the options I need are greyed out. Anyone find a solution for that yet???? | Newbie Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Re: DCOM Thumbnail.dll permissions hi, i'm having a similar issue ever since i installed Service Pack 1. i'm running vista ultimate x64 with the real administrator account. the problem only affects me when i try to share files using media centre 11, that must be when it asks for the thumbnails and results in the error. i tried the various work arounds, but i hit a dead end at componant services -> dcom -> thumbnail... because when i right click this service, like alot of other people, the radio buttons are greyed out. that is the only service out of a few randomly picked that i dont have permission to change. (and of course it's the one i need) i have administrator rights, i gave my self full control over the registry entry relating to the service and it's still greyed out. any help would be great |
