| Guest | Make folders private... Have 4 other users all setup as Amins but I want to make each of the user personal folders private. Was easy enough in XP in fact it just asked me if I wanted to. Anyone shed some insight into how this is done in Vista? TIA, -Greg |

| Guest | Re: Make folders private... You could change the permissions on the folders. Right click on the folder, select properties, open the security tab, click the "edit" button, and remove the other users from the dialog that appears by highlighting their username and clicking "remove". Just don't remove yourself. -- /* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Robert Firth * * Windows Vista x86 RTM * * http://www.WinVistaInfo.org * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * */ "Greg" <blah@blah.com> wrote in message news:egKb52lRHHA.4252@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > Have 4 other users all setup as Amins but I want to make each of the user > personal folders private. | Guest | Re: Make folders private... Greg; "Was easy enough in XP" It is also easy for any of the Administrators to gain access to anyone else's documents. Any Administrator can do and undo anything an other Administrator can do. The chances of assured privacy are far less when others are also Administrators. Consider not making everyone an Administrator. -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] http://www3.telus.net/dandemar http://www.dts-l.org "Greg" <blah@blah.com> wrote in message news:egKb52lRHHA.4252@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > Have 4 other users all setup as Amins but I want to make each of the user > personal folders private. | Guest | Re: Make folders private... I changed other user to Standard user and it made no difference. You can go straight into my documents files, my favorites, my history, etc. What kind of security is that? Is there anyway to do this right? Thanks. | Guest | Re: Make folders private... I was able to do it in permissions but got warnings all over the place that denying to this user might cause trouble. It seems to be ok; I have all the shared stuff in the Public folders, so maybe it will work. I have Ultimate, which uses the more complicated networking scheme (a la XP Professional) and I assume that Vista Home is more like the XP Home.
