Should I wait for a Service Pack?

I was wondering if Vista has a few security holes in it. That's what my dad
said. He thinks I should wait for you to release a Service Pack first. What
do you guys think?

Vista has more built in safeguards than any version of Windows before it,
Hands down. Does it have flaws, you bet it will. Are there operating systems
that don't? Not on your life!

Show me an OS that has no security holes and I'll show you an OS that hasn't
seen the light of day. That being said, early adoption of newly released
software is not the ideal situation for the inexperienced or those who don't
want to get into the nuts and bolts of making things work. Especially if
upgrading an existing system.

Want the best case scenario? Buy a brand spanking new machine that's built
for Vista.

Just my $.02

Re: Should I wait for a Service Pack?

I think Joe said it all in a nutshell, think about that he posted and give
it some thought.

Personally, I'm one of the more brave computer geeks. Vista Ultimate all the
way!!! :-)

He's right. Mind you, he also has a secret identity as that famed superhero
Captain Obvious. All operating systems have flaws in them that effect
security.

If you've got no pressing need to upgrade now then I would say that waiting
is a great idea, but this is more to do with waiting for better driver and
application support than about worries with security.

But don't think you're going to get a perfect product with no flaws in it by
waiting, or by never upgrading, or going to a completely different OS.
Sadly, software isn't like that.
