| Guest | Smartcard support in MS Windows Vista When I installed Vista I was found, what Cyberflex smartcard and USB E-Gate smartcard reader was not supported any more. Next, I found what Cryptoflex for Windows 2000 and Cryptoflex for Windows XP are gone. Moreover, I'm unable to find what smartcard I can buy right now for using it under Windows Vista. So, where is more secure Windows, if there is no any available smartcards on the market? |

| Guest | Re: Smartcard support in MS Windows Vista I would think that GemPlus would have a solution, but I don't know for sure. I would look at their web site. Another great option is to look for any cards that support the Microsoft Base Smart Card CSP. There are several vendors in the queue presently. Finally, Gemplus and Axalto merged last year to form Axalto, so disregard the Gemplus recommendation <G>. The Gemalto .Net card works natively with Vista and the required mini-driver for the Base Smart Card CSP is included out of the box. http://www.netsolutions.gemalto.com/ Brian |

| Guest | Re: Smartcard support in MS Windows Vista It appears they did merge to form www.gemalto.com but finding useful information on the web site is not easy. The .NET Solutions seems to have compatible smartcards and readers for use with Vista. I know that GemPlus had a Java card that allowed a lot of personalization and some models support RSA key generation. I just like them and I have an IBM branded version of the GemPlus USB reader. I suppose if you talk to a rep at Gemalto they can tell you what is currently available. I do see they still have an SDK to use with their cards if you really want a custom solution. It has been a long time since I worked with SmartCards (Smarty floppy based smartcard reader), so I am not up to date. I only have the reader for fun, but haven't done anything with it yet.
