Windows Defender - Fails to initialize

I just bought a new laptop with Vista Home Premium installed on it. Whenever
I boot up I get a small Windows Defender window that says "Application failed
to initialize: 0x80010005." I noticed people who were using the beta version
were getting a similar message when the beta version expired last month. This
isn't a beta version. Any suggestions?
