Re: Switch User Not Available in Ultimate

the problem being, of course, that when I CAD there I don't get a Switch
User button...

I'm gonna try leaving the domain, checking if it's available when I'm in a
workgroup, then re-joining the domain, see what happens.

Or, head on down through Group Policy to ...

Computer Configuration | Administrative Templates | System | Logon | Hide
entry points for Fast User Switching.

Disable or undefine it.

You're welcome.

Re: Switch User Not Available in Ultimate

After pressing WinKey+L to lock the workstation, select the "Switch User"
button at the bottom. If this button is missing, it's most probably due to a
Policy setting which turns off Fast User Switching.

Follow the registry route indicated in the following article:
http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/128/1/
Note that you'll need to delete the value named "HideFastUserSwitching" if
it exists

I'm using Ultimate and switch user shows up

My default install of the Vista 64 Ultimate has the user switch menu item on all the menu's both for shutdown and ctrl alt delete.

I'm wondering if it was an install option ?

That's normal behavior.

Re: Switch User Not Available in Ultimate

re-joined to domain...

Re: Switch User Not Available in Ultimate

Tada!
Used gpedit.msc to set the HideFastUserSwitching option, then edited the
registry to remove the key it created, and lo and behold, all my entry
points are now available.

Thanks all for sticking with me; god only knows why they weren't there out
the box. And thanks Tony4554 for the right steer in the end.
