Bitlocker enabled BIOSes

Can someone point me to an official IBM\MS Document explaining why T42 and
other Systems doesn't support the Bitlocker function ?

Is there going to be a BIOS Update that will resolve these problems ?

Google "TPM" and you should find your answers. Vista requires TPM 1.2 and
not all early TPM modules support, or can be, upgraded to TPM 1.2. But this
doesn't mean your system won't support Bitlocker, it still will and you can
use other means (such as a USB key) to use Bitlocker.

BitLocker. The step-by-step guide has instructions on how to setup BitLocker
without a acceptable TPM chip. I have BitLocker functioning on 2 dual boot
towers and 1 laptop without TPM chips. On a raid 1 (mirror) array BitLocker
will hide the Vista partition but no encryption of the partition will occur.

I know all this, but some BIOSs doesn't even support booting from USB Keys
(The thing is, that the BIOS Must support "Reading" from USB and not
"Booting" from it).
The bitlocker check will fail on the T42 Model and alot of other models

Making the T42 compatible with BitLocker would be up to IBM. I have
used BitLocker on a Compaq v2000z and HP dv2000 laptops without problems.
The bios boot order for the dv2000 is 1) USB floppy, 2) CD/DVD, 3) Hard
drive, 4) USB Diskette on Key, 5) USB Hard Drive and 6) Network adapter.

Not all systems without a TPM will be able to use BDE. Some
BIOS' just cannot read from a USB device at boot time correctly
which means that BDE can't be implemented.

This is very true which was the scenario for me.
I wanted to use full disk encryption & I tested a few products.
I ended up using Bestcrypt FVE which works great in Vista.
A free option of full disk encryption will be version 5 of the free Compusec
here http://www.ce-infosys.com/english/do...sec/index.html I
have been told that v5 will support Vista by their tech support. But when
it is due out I don't know.
For those who can't use Bitlocker I recommend Bestrypt FVE.
