MSXML 4.0 SP2 Security Update (KB927978) - In a loop

Today I had one new update and it was the MSXML 4.0 SP2 Security Update
(KB927978). This update was first installed successfully on 1/31/2007. I
went ahead and ran the update again and it will again show as a new update
available in a few minutes. I have rebooted and installed again but it still
keeps coming back as a new update available. All of them show up in my
update history as Successful. Has anyone else seen this problem?

Yes. I had to finally right click on the update and click "Hide" to stop
this.

Those xml ones sometimes get horked on XP. Go into control panel,
uninstall it and install it fresh.

I had uninstalled and installed from the KB patch and that fixed it. This
was on Vista, so the same problem must exist.

Rick
If you run into this problem it is probably because the first install was
not totally successful. I had the same problem. I uninstalled the first MSXML
4.0 SP2, rebooted the computer and reinstalled it again and that cured the
problem.

Re: MSXML 4.0 SP2 Security Update (KB927978) - In a loop

I solved the problem by uninstalling MSXML 4.0 SP2. Then TURNING OFF
everything I had for firewalls ... Norton, Windows, etc. Then went to
the Windows Update page and installed it. After it was installed,
turned all sucurity back on and it all is working well now ... no more
"updates" ever 2 minutes. Not sure why, but this solved the problem.
