Security

Windows Vista seems to have it's own security built in. My computer also has
Mcafee installed. Can I uninstall it?

Thank You

Re: Security

Mcafee? Most here would recommend that you do, then install one of the
quality free anti virus apps such as AVG or Avast.

Re: Security

Mcafee, I'm having all kind of networking problems. Maybe this has something
to do with it. I have tried everything that I have seen in the networking
discussion group. I'm sorry I bought computer.

Re: Security

Hi,

If you talking about Windows Defender then you have to remember that it is
NOT an antivirus - it's just a anti-spyware software. In Vista there is a
few security related features but all are build-in in x64 versions.

You should have an antivirus but before install check if it is for Vista
system.

PS. AV vendors often write that " ...is compatible with Vista... " - I've
got a doubts if it's mean that is working on this OS or just working and
crashes not too much ;-)

Yes but make sure you install another AV program. Suggestions are Avast
(free), AVG (free) and NOD32.
