Installing software, getting unable to write to registry errors

I was installing a piece of software last night, and it kept giving errors
trying to write to HKCR, saying access denied (it was trying to register
class servers)

Why, as an admin, would I be getting these errors?

Try right clicking the install program and choosing Run as administrator.

Re: Installing software, getting unable to write to registry errors

Well, tried installing it on XP and got same errors - seems to be an
installer package error.
