| Guest | Re: Security Center says that Windows Defender is turned off I am having the same issues listed. windows security red alert icon is present each time I start my computer. Just until recently defender has been working fine- in the security center it says that Malware protection/virus protection is not located on my computer. Then it says that Defender is off. I try to turn on but comes back with message that says that there are no new definitions avail to download to defender. I need help... | Newbie | Re: Security Center says that Windows Defender is turned off Sorry to drag this thread back up to the top again, but..... i use vista home premuim x64, with avg 8 free, and had not problems until last week. I keep everything updated with the suitable updates that come out. On friday i notied that as i rebooted it said the problem of no Malware installed, and had turned Windows defender off. I know AVG still works and have run scans to check. also restarted Defender and run scns there as well. No problems recorded. I also get the error of COM+ event system, and calls an error up. Also the Network box has a big red cross in the tray even though nothing seems wrong. Also i get alot of Network Interface Service errors come up in the last couple of days. they say it is problem event name BEX64 affecting the application name: svchost.exe_nsi i have tried all the Repository tricks, of clearing it, and even deleting it, but the same start up problems occur. when i have run winmgmt /verifyrepository it says it is consistent. does anyone have any ideas how to cure this DefenderVista/AV problem?? if you require any mroe info please ask and i will get back when i can. |

| Guest | RE: Security Center says that Windows Defender is turned off My Windows started to have similar problem yesterday. The Windows Security Center showed Windows Defender is out of date. but after mannual update, I received a message: "There are no new definitions available to download for Windows." In Windows Defender, it states Real-time protection is on and Definition version is 1.43.73.0 created on 9/4/2008. I have tried Mohit Kapoor's solution, but have some problem as Grich had. After I run winmgmt/verifyrepository, system responded "WMI repository is consistent". | Guest | Re: Security Center says that Windows Defender is turned off Hi, I had the same problem, fortunately AVG have released a patch to fix the problem with Vista 32bit. http://www.avg.com/filedir/util/support/delrepwv_en.exe This should resolve the problem, it did mine!
