| Guest | Re: UAC blocks IE add-on The add-on as such works fine, just the proxy switching feature doesn't, when IE is run in protected mode. I'm trying to keep protected mode ON, while allowing this partilar add-on enough rights to switch proxy settings. I am no expert on IE add-ons in IE7, but I am pretty certain that an add-on would be stopped from changing your proxy settings by protected mode. The point of protected mode is to prevent things inside IE from making changes to your system, and setting a proxy server would definitely qualify. Windows Defender attempts to protect your proxy settings too because spyware uses proxy servers all the time to ensure that they can see all traffic you send, including SSL traffic. In other words, if there is a way to make an add-on in IE7 switch proxy settings I don't know what it is. --- Your question may already be answered in Windows Vista Security: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/047...otectyourwi-20 |

| Guest | Re: UAC blocks IE add-on I found a workaround which is somewhat ok. Created an html page that I use as my homepage, I run this on the local web server on my pc. Added the site (localhost) to the trusted sites, which has protected mode off. Now I can change proxy settings using the add-on when I start my browser, before going to the web site. Not perfect, but somehow ok for me.
