| Guest | Local Security Policy Snap In Missing I have Vista Home Premium installed on a shiny new Dell computer, along with a Buffalo Tech Terastation, but due to the Terastation being Unix based, Vista keeps telling me the username and password is incorrect when trying to get on it. Buffalo Tech suggested doing this: http://nobluescreens.com/solutions/samba_vista.php But I can't even get the snap in, its not found on my computer. I have searched the entire hard drive but have not found it. Can anyone help? Steve |

| Guest | Re: Local Security Policy Snap In Missing Dear DMC, Microsoft didn't include secpol.msc (Local Security Policy) with the Vista Home edition, so the only way to make it work is to change the registry key for that to work, BUT, I don't recommend that because when you change the settings according to what is required to connect to the Samba Shared, you are going to decrease your security to the "if Negotiated" part. Anyway, here's the registry part that need to be changed: 1- Start - Run - Regedit 2- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa 3- Double click "LmCompatibilityLevel", and change the value from 0 "Default" to 1 4- Restart your computer. Best regard.
