Although this is a definite probably cause, I question an article from 2001 being relevant to a Vista certificate validation issue. Again, clock sync issues can definitely cause the behavior described, but the issue described would not affect Vista (it is written 5-6 years before the release of Vista! Brian |

| Guest | Re: VISTA - IE7 SECURITY CERTIFICATE ERROR Hi the timing solution doesn't seem to work. This is affecting all the major sites I visit American Express, Polo.com, Amazon, the list goes on. Microsoft have been no help at all and deny that there is any problem and insists that the security certificates of all these major sites have been revoked which doesn't reallly seem very likely. Is there any way we can uninstall the update that started all this? Or is there a way I can override the warning and proceed to the page I am looking for? At least it's curbed my internet shopping! -- beezz ------------------------------------------------------------------------ beezz's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=25294 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=724670 http://forums.techarena.in |

| Newbie Rep Power: 12 ![]() | Hi Brian, I'm having the same problems and because I cannot access the HP website using my Vista computer and IE7, every time I turn my printer on it takes me thru the final stage of the installation process including product regn - very annoying. Anyway, here's a URL for you. Also re the time thing, when I click update now to synchronize my time with internet time it won't do it - it keeps telling me an error has occurred. https://h20366.www2.hp.com/americas/...yQT!1003135169 |

| Guest | Re: VISTA - IE7 SECURITY CERTIFICATE ERROR Hmmm. I just connected to that Web site and not problems with the certificate at all... Certificate is valid from: Wednesday, January 04, 2006 10:09:06 AM Certificate is valid to: Tuesday, January 04, 2011 10:09:06 AM One other person mentioned time sync. Can you verify that your current date/time is between these two dates on your computer. Also, if you view the certificate, and download the certificate. Could you run certutil --verify -urlfetch DownloadedCert.crt from your computer? This would provide me with more details as to what the exact problem is that you are facing. | Guest | Re: VISTA - IE7 SECURITY CERTIFICATE ERROR I will check when I go home to my vista machine, but I am pretty sure the time & date are accurate. As for the other stuff, i have zero idea how to view the certificate -- I went into certificates and there was nothing close to a yahoo one. Moreover, there wasn't any obvious way to request or download one. "Brian Komar" wrote: > Hmmm. | Guest | Re: VISTA - IE7 SECURITY CERTIFICATE ERROR Hi All! I'm in the same boat. My problems started a couple of days ago. Vista now says that ALL SSL sites have had certificates revoked. Brian, I would attach a picture of some of the sites, but I cannot. When I navigate to an SSL site, IE displays the error and only one option (Close the window). I cannot verify the certificate, IE doesn't display the lock icon. The last error I received was when I tried to login into Live: https://login.live.com/ppsecure/post...&bk=1179338213 Any suggestions would be appreciated. I don't know what else to do at this point.
