I'm Confused

With all these terms such as adware, spyware, phishing and viruses
do I need to get software protection for each individual type or are a
couple
of these terms one in the same? And can I get software protection that
covers all these?

Thanks,
James

Re: I'm Confused

There isn't anything that covers it all. Get 1 good anti-virus, 1 good
firewall and use Google to find Vista compatible anti-spyware.

Re: I'm Confused

I I prefer AVAST and they have a free
version or Vista
I use 3 different anti spy/ad ware programs.
spybot search and destroy
spywareblaster
Adaware from Lavasoft.
all of these are available for free............do a google.

Run one AV program. There are several good ones for Vista, including Avast
(free), AVG (free), NOD32 (paid). Then use a variety of programs that
target non viral malware. Only one should run with active scanning, but you
can use the others to do a scan of the system from time to time. Vista
comes with Defender. In addition I recommend (and they are all free):

Ad-Aware SE Personal (they are working on a new version soon to be released)
SpyBot S&D
Spyware Blaster (not a scanner; it prevents malware from getting installed).

Being more secure than XP is like being more alive than Elvis Pressley. It
isn't very hard to do.

Re: I'm Confused

However Windows Vista needs anti virus and ant spyware protection.
Nothing in Vista removes those needs.
