| Vista + VPN + SQL server + Windows Authentication mode Hello everyone! I have a question regarding connection to SQL server using Management Studio Express on a computer with Vista Business while using a VPN connection to the network. With Windows XP (my computer is not in company domain) after connecting through VPN to my office domain (with a username which is a member of domain admins group) I could connect to SQL server (2000 and 2005) using Windows Authentication. After installing Vista that is no longer possible. I get a message - Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 18452) BTW. In the Options of the VPN connection - "Include Windows logon domain" is checked. Connection with a SQL server Authentication mode works without any problems. Any ideas? Best Regards WoiTEC |

| Re: Vista + VPN + SQL server + Windows Authentication mode I have been told that the problem is related to authentication and that the solution is to authenticate against the domain (not the VPN firewall) and to then route all traffic through the server used for authentication - makes little sense to me but hey when it gets to bits and bobs it gets all too technical for a simple mind. Why on earth woudl I have expected Vista Business to just work like XP - duh!!! No wonder most of our top guys are uninstalling Vista and opting for XP.....any idea when they port mac to pc? |

I authenticate against a domain server. I have access to all domain shares with the correct access rights but not the SQL server!!! Really nobody knows what the problem might be?? WoiTEC |
