Vista - Cannot receive videos

I recently purchased a computer running Windows Vista Ultimate. When I
attempt to go to a website containing videos or music, I get the information
bar ( "Did you notice the information bar?" ) The information bar tells me
that "Your web browser has blocked this site from using an ActiveX control in
an unsafe manner. As a result, this page may not display correctly." When I
click on the information bar, the only options given are: "What's the Risk?"
and "More information." There is no option to allow installation of the
ActiveX (It is a site that I know and trust) . The "information" window
explains that "A website tried to access an ActiveX control on your computer
without your permission." However it does not explain what I need to do to
"give my permission."

Can anyone explain exactly what steps I should take to get Vista to prompt
me for permission to allow ActiveX onto my computer?

As far as I know, safe-for-scripting and safe-for-initialization ActiveX
controls
can be used embedded on a website (famous WebViewFolderIcon issue).
Moreover,
as far as I know, IE 7.0 (on Vista Ultimate) informs by default of eventual
problem
with an unknown ActiveX control. An "unsafe manner" is also an important
note.
I have often bumped into such monits while exploiting ActiveX-based
vulnerabilities -
IE 7.0 informed me of eventual problems. I suggest that you don't install
the very
ActiveX control.

PS. Sorry for not answering directly to Your question but I always
recommended
not using such "unsafe manner"-scripts.

Thanks for taking the time to address my problem. I should have mentioned
that one of the ActiveX programs I was trying to load was the Adobe
FlashPlayer. Apparently I need this in order see and read information on many
websites.

I tried to temporarily lower the security level in the Internet options to
see if this would allow the program to load, but it did no good (I did return
to the default settings just to be safe).
