I have to hold down the power button to turn my computer off, hit the power button again to turn it back on, and THEN it resumes from sleep mode. You're supposed to just be able to click the mouse or keyboard and it should zoom back to life. Hopefully it will work for us in RC1! - JB |

| Guest | Re: how to recover from sleep mode There is a new hybrid method of sleep in Vista where hibernation also takes place (the memory is written to disk before the computer goes to sleep). What this means is if you inadvertently loose power to your computer, you can just turn your computer back on and the computer resumes as if it was put into hibernate instead of just sleep. By default from what I see this feature is turned on. | Guest | RE: how to recover from sleep mode Has anybody had this problem, even though they had the power options to NEVER go to sleap mode? I'll leave mine for a couple hours and when I come back it looks like it went into sleep mode and I can't get it back out. | Guest | RE: how to recover from sleep mode Hmmm. I've just done a clean install of RC1 on a Toshiba Tablet PC (Tecra M4) and I'm still encountering the problem described below. IThe disk/system seems to awaken when I open the case or touch the mousepad, but nothing appears on the monitor at all. have to do a hard restart to see anything on the monitor. :-( Mark ----------------- "Jimmy Brush" wrote: > > how do you recover from the sleep mode i hit the space bar the mouse comes > > alive again but never turns the display back on > > Hello, > > You're computer is probably like mine ... it hates Windows Vista's sleep mode. > > I have to hold down the power button to turn my computer off, hit the power > button again to turn it back on, and THEN it resumes from sleep mode. > > You're supposed to just be able to click the mouse or keyboard and it should > zoom back to life. > > Hopefully it will work for us in RC1! > > - JB |

| Guest | RE: how to recover from sleep mode I have not experienced this problem since setting Sleep to NEVER BUT as a preventative measure, just make sure you really have covered sleep mode settings for all power schemes. | Guest | RE: how to recover from sleep mode Really!!!! This has been a problem that I've experienced from day 1 on previous builds and considering that MS is billing the rapid resume from sleep as a feature and benefit, I think that it should really be fixed, presumably by the retail release. It's annoying isn't it? I mean, it works once or twice and then never again! ?
