AVG vs. Avast

I have an AMD Turion 64 bit HP with vista. I am seeing people recommend both
AVG Free Edition and Avast. Which one would work best for me?

AVG or Avast?

RE: AVG vs. Avast

Hi, Not many people like AVG. Everyone seems to like Avast. When I had AVG I
got viruses to the point that I thought it was the cause. Avast catches them.

There's no clear answer. Both are good, and there are fans of both
programs. Personally I prefer Avast, but others feel the other way
around.

They are both free. I recommend that you try them both (one at a time)
and decide for yourself). Most important, neither choice will be
disastrous.

Try them both to see what you like. You can have more than one AV program
installed, just only have one set to do active (on access) scanning. For
paid versions there is NOD32 and Kaspersky, both of which are excellent.

Personally in 32 bit Vista Ultimate I have been using Avast (free) with no
issues.

Re: AVG vs. Avast

recently switched from Avast back to AVG when they produced a FREE 64 bit version.
system is dramatically more responsive.
screens POP up with no delay.
even WM comes up on screen immediately instead of the delay suffered using avast.

am HAPPY with the change.

Re: AVG vs. Avast

Personal taste. I used AVG for a few years then tried Avast! which I still
use as my preference.

Avast drove me up the wall, with its annoying spinning icon and much more
frequent pop ups.
