| Guest | Vista Firewall ?? McAfee I am wondering if Vista Firewall is blocking mcafee updates? Any ideas on that. I can't find a prior discussion on it. McAfee is not updating daily and it frequently says enabled and disabled in recent events. I am always enabling and wonder if firewall is issue. THANK YOU katrinnka |

McAfee Hi, Control Panel\System and Maintenance -> Administrative tools -> Windows Firewall with Advanced Security and Windows Firewall Properties - you can set logging for Windows Firewall. Besides Control Panel\Security -> Allow program through Windows Firewall you can set programs which should connecting to the Internet Marcin Domaslawski "katrinnka" <katrinnka@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:166D926B-A685-464E-9EC3-4A264241AA4C@microsoft.com... >I am wondering if Vista Firewall is blocking mcafee updates? | Guest | Re: Vista Firewall ?? McAfee McAfee would normally have turned Windows Firewall off automatically when it installed its own FW. If you are not getting updates regularly then it could be that either you need to check for spyware http://forums.mcafeehelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=32295 or uninstall/reinstall because your VirusScan has somehow become corrupted. The updates should come in daily Monday-Friday. 1. Uninstall all McAfee programs through "Add or Remove Programs" in Windows "Control Panel". 2. Use the MCPR tool, see this article: http://ts.mcafeehelp.com/displaydoc....egoryId=107187 How to remove supported McAfee consumer products using the McAfee Consumer Products Removal tool (MCPR.exe). This will remove all McAfee remnants from your computer. (you must have Windows Vista, XP SP2 or W2K Pro SP4 to use this tool) 3. Launch Windows Explorer and delete all McAfee files in "Program Files" but especially in "C:\Document and Settings\<user>\Application Data" and "C:\Document and Settings\All Users\Application Data". You have to set Windows Explorer to show all hidden files and folders (Tools > Folder Options > View tab). Just delete the McAfee folders even if they are empty in all the "Application Data" folders. Can be more than one! In Vista: C:\Program Files, C:\ProgramData and C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming 4. Reboot and redownload/reinstall your McAfee products directly from your account at the McAfee web site. -- Peter Toronto, Canada XP Pro SP2 x 2 + Vista Ultimate "katrinnka" <katrinnka@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:166D926B-A685-464E-9EC3-4A264241AA4C@microsoft.com... >I am wondering if Vista Firewall is blocking mcafee updates?
