| | Download EXE I am trying to download evaluation software (EXE) from Microsoft and the download starts but disappears about half way through. I know this has to do with the Attachment Execution Service which blocks these files. I know that I need to click "Unblock" but I can't do that until it's downloaded. How do I download this kind of file with Vista blocking EXE's? I have tried turning on File Extensions and changing it to .exx but it still doesn't work... anyone? |

| | RE: Download EXE And I'm having the same problem. All of a sudden when I download files with an .exe extension "Windows" blocks it and sends it into hell or somewhere for my "protection". Also, when I try to unzip a file with an exe file in it, it will block that file but let the rest unzip. It didn't do this before. It must have been one of the patches that enabled this... Please, someone out there must know the answer! PLEASE help us and post a fix so that we can start using our computers and downloads normally. Thanks for any help and info..... - - - - - - - - - - "Ray" wrote: > hello > > I am having the exact same problem. Could not find anyone to help. | Vista Ultimate | Re: Download EXE I know this problem has irritated many people, including myself. I would open Internet Explorer and try to download a file and it would go through the motions and get to 100% then appear for 1 second in the destination folder then, suddenly DISAPPEAR! WTF? I tried everything. Uninstalled Anti-Virus, disabled Windows Defender, turned Windows Firewall off. NOTHING! Then I opened up the Network Sharing Center and noticed my Network was set to Public. I reset it to Private and then turned off the File Sharing. I can now download files! Amazing! Just when I was ready to dress in a turtle neck sweater and sit in Starbucks's and act all snootiy with my brand new Mac. Thanks Microsoft for being so freaking annoying. |
