| Guest | Vista Security Center Aero Problem? I have Vista Home Premium with F-Secure Internet Security 2007 for Vista. For some reason, the background of the Security Center Application is black? Initially, the window background was not black, but instead the background was like of any other normal Aero-window. Is this normal? Security settings are ok. In other words, Windows reports that all the security features are active and the computer is secure. All the other windows that I have looked through are normal, only the security center window has this oddity? I'm a bit puzzled. There is an actual problem with this oddity as well: it's difficult to push the "slider" buttons of the security center because thery are no longer visible! Yet, I'm able to access them without seeing because I approximately remember their position within the window. So, they work but they are not visible. |

| Guest | RE: Vista Security Center Aero Problem? It's me. I assume that I have found an answer for the problem I reported below. A couple of days ago I updated the audio driver of my motherboard. This updated driver seems to have been causing the problems. I uninstalled the driver and returned back to previous version. This removed the oddity from the Vista Security Center. Its appearance is now normal. Also, before uninstalling the driver, I experienced several Explorer.exe crashes whenever browsing the Control Panel. Of course, none of these problems had anything to do with audio, but apparently it is possible that problems in the audio drivers can cause oddities in the Security Center :-). My motherboard is Intel DP965LT and the audio driver is Sigmatel 92XX. Intel's site hosts two versions of the driver: 7/10/2007 and 4/23/2007. For some reason, 4/23/2007 seems to work better, and the 7/10/2007 version worse. I'm not sure though, and I don't know why? At least this seems to be the case on my system. Of course, if anybody would be able to tell the difference between the these two drivers, it would be nice to know [thanks for reading this far :-) ]. | Guest | Re: Vista Security Center Aero Problem? Yes, it appears your Security Center and overall Control Panel problem was due to an Intel control panel that Vista didn't seem to like. Collisions ensued when you used the 7/10/2007 download: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filt...4&submit=Go%21 Note that the 7/10/2007 download included the "IDT* Audio Control Panel". (when you click on the Name vs. the Download link, it briefly describes the difference). The 4/23/07 version does not have the control panel. Both are marked as the latest available (with the gold disk icon). I don't use this driver, so that's about all I know. I do know, in general, that when a 3rd party control panel goes awry, it can cause the chaos you were experiencing.
