Re: is there a virus for vista?

Windows Vista is still capable of running most Windows XP viruses.

But, due to the new default security settings, it is more difficult to 1)
get infected and 2) for the virus to do system-level damage. However, these
settings won't stop a virus for getting on your system if you give it
explicit permission to run from the security window.

Virus protection is still strongly recommended

Also, I haven't heard of a virus targeting SPECIFICALLY Windows Vista. I
doubt many will until Vista is being used by almost everyone, like Windows
XP is now.

Re: is there a virus for vista?

I have used Trend for a couple of years until I got an ISDN Router...Trend
did not agree with this router so I had to use a different ant-virus
program....Has anyone else had isuues like this?...Remembering that the
Router has it's own firewall...Can this problem be solved?...

Re: is there a virus for vista?

As far as your router is concerned, I'm not sure. I've always been one to
not like AV/Firewall combo apps. I use NOD32 AV and a hardware firewall.
Never had a problem with NOD32 interfering with anything, ever, which is one
of the reasons I like it. I haven't tried it with Vista yet, but I have a
funny feeling it won't work, just due to the posts of others using other AV
apps. I will try it later, after I get past the hurdles I'm having myself
with Vista.

Thanks, for the info, I do agree with you that using combo apps is not
always the best choice...

Re: is there a virus for vista?

I'm not saying it doesn't WORK or anything to that effect...I simply would
rather only have to find a single app if some part goes wrong...if the
firewall sucks, I don't want to also have to look for a new antivirus app,
etc.
