IE 7 Protected Mode: Off

When I open IE7, the status bar reads "Protected Mode: Off".

I went to Internet Options, Security, and see that "Enable Protection Mode"
is checked.

Going to Help, I find no way to turn the Protection Mode back on.

I have run a thorough Virus Check and also checkes with Ad-Aware and Spybot,
but they detect nothing.

Can anybody help?

RE: IE 7 Protected Mode: Off

protected mode was off on mine too so I went to tools>internet options>
security tab then i clicked "reset all zones to default level" at the
bottom. It turned it back on. But it will reset any changes you might have
made to your internet security.
