| Stay away from McAfee I have the option of downloading free McAfee internet security from my ISP, so I did. Right away I noticed a serious slow down, but I decided to give it some time since it was FREE and comprehensive software. All in all is wa OK, then came the latest update, that's when all hell broke out. -Anything Flash stopped working, -the sidebar gadgets become distorted and unviewable, -If I turned off UAC the whole system had a seizure -With UAC on I couldn't actually do anything -Control Panel took 10 seconds plus just to open up and twice that to populate -And I couldn't even access the McAfee security center to adjust it So, of course, I installed the thing. Too late, the damage was done and I spent a day getting my system back to normal which required a System Restore back to pre-McAfee and the reinstall of nearly all my drivers and 1/3 of my software, which I could only do after I used HP's recovery to get the computer 'back to factory' condition (this ended up erasing all personal items, which I luckily had backed-up on DVD). Norton IS 2007 that came as trail-ware with the system was slow, but at least it was stable and intrusive. I hate you McAfee! |

I've yet to have any problems with NIS2007, other than symantec tech support has been unable to answer a question I have about some alerts. Dave |
