Access denied

I created several new file by exporting out of a program to RTF files. When
I attempt to access them, I receive an "Access denied" message. I have gone
into the file properties and confirmed that I am the owner of the file and
have full control of the files but access is still denied.

It's extremely maddening that a file I created and for which Vista states I
have full ownership rights should have a security problem.

Suggestions?

Re: Access denied

Where you saved the file to may be the problem. Where did you save the file to?

Re: Access denied

I saved the file to a subdirectory on a network drive (mapped as H. I have
full access to the directory and have admin rights as the current user.

Re: Access denied

It appears that I can no longer access any files to the particular
subdirectory when using Word 2007. I can, however, access older files with
no problem. Additionally, I can delete these files, although I am denied
access to edit them in Word 2007.

Re: Access denied

Perhaps this is a Word 2007 issue and maybe you could find additional help in
the Word or Office newsgroups?

Re: Access denied

I don't think that this is a Word 2007 problem as I have tried to access the
file with Wordpad and I receive the same error. I would assume that if it
was a Word 2007 problem, I would be able to access using Wordpad.

I also attempted to open the file in Notepad and received the message "You
don't have permission to open this file." Additionally, our network
administrator reviewed my permissions access on the server and confirmed I
have full rights. He also can open the files without problem.

So the problem seems localized to my Vista access of this file.

RE: Access denied

OK, I have figured out where the problem is.

I had turned on "encrypt offline files" which is the only thing that I had
changed recently. While I would prefer to have offline files encrypted, it
appears that it is creating a problem with access to files while I am online.

While this does not make any sense, the problem corrected itself as soon as
I unencrypted the offline files.

Again I would appreciate any suggestions as to how to fix this.
