about:blank

My computer has been taken over by "about:blank." Whenever I log on to IE
"about:blank" shows up in the Address Box and then proceeds to open a number
of sites that I can't stop, never wanted and have to quickly close before
"about:blank" resumes and starts opening more sites.

I have a virus program as well as a spyware system monitoring my computer
but "about:blank" gets around both of these programs.

I have increased my Internet security to the highest level and "about:blank"
still gets around that.

Do I have to format my hard drive to get rid of "about:blank." If I have to
do that I will. Just tell me how.

Re: about:blank

do a google search on "about blank virus" (without the quotes). you'll
find all sorts of hits/fixes

Re: about:blank

You're not going to want to hear this, but you really need to reformat that
system. There are many viruses that use that type of attack. Unless you can
figure out what all of them are and ensure that none of them have any pieces
left on the system it is unlikely that you can successfully clean out the
system.

Me? I don't have any virus. The OP does.

Re: about:blank

I was referring to the OP. I just figured I'd pile on to the existing thread.

You should of course reply to the thread. But you also should reply to
the correct message and the correct person in the thread. If you
don't, the result is often confusion. Don't just add your message to
the end of the thread, regardless of who the last poster was.
