encryption & backups...

hi,

if i encrypt my hard drive with bitlocker,
and do complete system image & also data backups,
are those backups also protected by bitlocker encryption ???

If you're using tools that run after you boot the copy of Windows protected
by BitLocker, then the backups won't be encrypted.

And you don't want to use a backup from a tool that runs before boot,
because it will be a sector-by-sector copy of the data.

Not only is that huge and uncompressible, but it also can only be restored
to a machine that has at least the same size drive, same sector sizes, and
same number and placement of bad sectors.

So how do you make sure that your backup is encrypted as well? In our office, files are automatically backed up through the network. That means my files will be un-encrypted on the server.
