Cant turn off "built in protection"...

According to help section (which blows) should I just uncross the box for
that program I trust and don't need Vista to block from opening...

Well it doesnt work... everytime I try to uncross a new blockage arrive... I
can't open my mail program IncrediMail... I trust that program but Vista wont
let me unblock it.

How do I make Vista understand I want to open IncrediMail...? Instructions
in help sections doesnt work...

RE: Cant turn off "built in protection"...

I got help from another site... you can turn off the "protection" by entering
in the commando square: Bcdedit.exe /set AlwaysOff and if you wanna for some
reason turn it on again Bcdedit.exe /set AlwaysOn but you need to make sure
you have admin rights...

I guess the commando square they are talking about is the DOS black box...
havent tried it yet myself but will when I come home...

RE: Cant turn off "built in protection"...

esmnh,

Thank you very much for that advice... I will certainly try that as soon as
I get home today in a couple of hours.

Sure hope that works. I don't know why this started happening all of a
sudden. Not being able to save .exe or unzip .exe's is getting to be a real
pain in the ass.

Funny thing though, in downloads that I can change the download nave I
rename the .exe to .msi and I can then save it!! Then of course I have to
name it back but this shouldn't be!

Again thanks. I'll let you know if it works for me.

RE: Cant turn off "built in protection"...

last post was faulty.... it should be Bcdedit.exe /set nx AlwaysOff for
turning off and Bcdedit.exe /set nx AlwaysOn to activate again... I forgot
the nx last time...

ANYONE???

I find it hard to believe that no one out there knows the answer to this!!

What about all you MVP's? There has to be something I can do!!
