vista doesn't recognise device

Hi,

I have recently purchased a Samsung SGH-U600 mobile phone. The phonetools
that come with the phone and the drivers on the software CD are not
compatible with win Vista so I downloaded the appropriate software/drivers
from the Samsung website. I loaded PC Studio 3 and installed the drivers.
However, when I connected the phone via the data usb cable (supplied with
the phone) I got a message did not recognise USB device and then the pc
studio software fires up with an error message COM server registration
failed. Please restart the system. When I click on the text bubble that says
unrecognised usb device, a list of ports appears (10 root ports) and at port
#5 it is highlighted Unknown Device (presumably my phone). Another thing
that happens is that I get a windows error message saying that Launcher.exe
failed to start. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the software and drivers a
dozen times and nothing seems to work. I really do need this to work as all
of my important contacts/data etc is on my pc.

I know that a lot of you will say take this up with Samsung but I cannot
locate a number for Samsung UK tech help.
