Vista - Windows Live Onecare and Windows Defender

I use Windows Vista and I'm currently trying the Windows Live Onecare. Before
this I was using the Windows Defender and another firewall/virus protection
program. Every time I turn on my computer I get the warning that Windows
Defender is OFF. I turn it back on, but the same thing happens next time. My
question is: Is Windows Live Onecare turning off Windows Defender as it is
incorporated into the software?

Windows Live OneCare has the same functionality as Defender plus a lot of
other features. Yes, OneCare should turn off Defender.

Yes, OneCare includes it's own version of Defender (and Firewall) and will turn
off Windows Defender (and Windows Firewall).

Don't know why you are getting the warning though. Just leave Windows Defender
OFF, reboot and see if the alert occurs again.

Windows Live One Care has its own version of Defender and Windows Firewall
so, yes it will turn the versions on Vista off. I'm running One care on
Windows XP on a Virtual Machine and every time I boot the virtual machine I
too get the message that the firewall is turned off and also defender, but
once the system has fully booted and One Care has initialised the message
disappears. It certainly hasn't caused me any worry.
