| Guest | Pre-installed Windows Defender Problem I just bought a new Dell computer with Windows Vista Pre-installed on it and every time I re-start the computer I get this message relative to Windows Defender: “Application failed to initialize: 0x800106ba.", and I'm not able to do anything at all with this application, I've Googled this and it seems a lot of people are having the same experience, but there doesn't seem to be a diffinitive solution that fixes it: is there any way to remove this application without causing damage to other applications since it was pre-installed? -- Moose 1 |

| Guest | RE: Pre-installed Windows Defender Problem Thank you Engel. When I go to the uninstall programs window in the control panel, Windows Defender isn't listed there at all. There is this: MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB927978) and MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB936181) - I had read elsewhere that they might have something to do with Windows Defender, and if so is there anything to try there, and if not, do you know of any other way to go find Windows Defender so that I can follow the directions on the link that you gave me? -- Moose 1 "Engel" wrote:

| Guest | RE: Pre-installed Windows Defender Problem I am having the same problem. Boy, do I regret buying this crappy Vista. This was one mistake I will never make again. Nothing runs on it, there is no information on how to fix things on the web, it seems like Microsoft wants people to buy Apple computers. Larry S. Savannah, GA "Dan" wrote:

| Guest | RE: Pre-installed Windows Defender Problem I've the same error code as Dan and Larry S. that's related to Windows Defender built-in to Vista. Since your link refers to the user installable version, how do Vista users fix the problem so Windows Defender can be activated again? Ed S Vashon, WA "Engel" wrote:
