| Guest | login in k im very comfused here...before, when i would turn my laptop on, it would ask for my password, now it doesn't. im very concern about this, i dont want anyone gettin a hold of my latop and just be able to use it. i had gone through my user account and it say that it is password protected. how can i get that option back to where it ask for a password when i turn my laptop on? please help |

| Guest | RE: login in Hi there, Are you refering to the BIOS boot up password or Windows user account password? to enable BIOS password, refer to http://www.lockdown.co.uk/?pg=biospsw&s=articles. However do note that different BIOS vendor has different method of setting BIOS password. but the idea is generally the same. To ensure that users are required to enter their password to logon to Windows, Go to 'Start' > 'Run' > type 'control userpasswords2' > and make sure 'Users must enter username and password...' is checked. Using an encryption program is the only way to get a modicum of security in data protection. Both will of course stop a casual use of your system.
