windows firewall error

Hi all,

I have a Windows Vista Ultimate laptop part of our domain. Everytime I try
to go into Windows Firewall to change any settings, it just will not launch.
I get the following error:-

Due to an unidentified problem windows cannot display windows firewall
settings.

Any ideas?

Please advise.

Thanks

Since the FW on XP and Vista are kind of the same on both O/S(s), a fix
might be common to both of them. You might want try to investigate and try
to apply one or two of them.

Re: windows firewall error

I have tried google and several articles talk about a Shared Key issue in
the registry. When I applied that patch to my vista machine, all other sorts
of issues appeared and I had to reinstall the OS on it.

Since the laptop is a member of a domain, there is probably a Group
Policy in force covering the firewall. Discuss this with your IT Dept.
at work.

Have you tried to just simply reset the FW?
