I have old hotmail live accounts that won't send photos anymore, and WLM that won't send or recive. Windows Mail just loops me back to my old HM account,,,did the update, up grade, and everything elce I can think of . Firewall, defender ........When it was working for about a week WLM, it was painfully slow.
I also have a brand new L.T. with Vista hm, and Norton, I've not tried the msg. I am on dial up (no choice) which is no help, slow with trial and error. I've been working on this off and on for three week and it's kind of spoiling the whole new Lap Top thing ......lol..I think
Can you hear my frustration.....Brink I am going to try some of your suggestions, Maybe I get lucky. Thanks all, and luck

I've tried running windows live with and without my firewall running and still get the same problem, are there any particular ports that may need to be opened on my router? (i've tried numerous different versions of live messenger and its all the same).

Try to create a new administrator user account. Then try to login to your msn messenger or hotmail account. See if it works.

I SOLVED THIS WITHOUT CREATING A NEW ACCOUNT

I had a similar issue and looked for a solution on the web. I gathered that this is a security issue in Vista. I had installed windows live before I had put a password, then created a password on my account and I think this is what started my problem.

Basically I uninstalled ALL of the windows live options from the control panel and removed my password(I am running under an administrator) and rebooted my computer. I went back into my profile and then added a password. I then ran the windows live install as an administrator and that solved my problem.

blok, this seems to have happened to me too. I was wondering what had happened, when I read your post i relaised that it has only happened since I set up a password for my account. Thank you for sharing your advice, will try the same, fingers crossed it will work!
