Vista - Live Messenger Error code 80070005

Hi can't find a solution for this:

I have vista home premium, newly bought laptop came with this OS.Live messenger worked fne for a day or two then suddenly started this error messaging: 80070005 telling me that the service is unavailable.... I searched the net and tried a bunch of advice how to solve tis but NONE worked. I have amdin privileges, set all programs to microsoft default, re-installed the latest version of live messenger, then according to other advices deinsalled it and installed msn messenger 7.5 but NONE works, NOTHING works. How the heck can I have this program to log in??? I'm getting tired of Vista and long for XP... Can anyone give me any further advice with this problem???

and yes, I DID check the firewall settings as well.... (Norton)

Ok Teemeah,

I did some more digging around on the net. (Googled Messenger Error 80070005) Most of what I find say to uninstall all traces of Windows Live Messenger and download the latest version.

Right click on the downloaded latest version installation file and click Run as administrator. They say it worked after that.

The only other thing I found was to use Windows Live Messenger 8.0 instead.

If this still does not work, then you might consider using another message program that is compatible with Windows Live Messenger (WLM). You can find a selection here. Just read up on them to see if that is what you like and is it compatible.

It's looking like messenger 8.5 final will be out on the 7th, hopefully that might sort a few of the problems out

changed norton to nod32, downloaded 8.0, nothing. trying to download trillian now.... it is said to be compatible with msn... thanks for trying to help me, I realy appreciate it. Hugs to all!

thanks shawn. Trillian is working fine. Need time to get used to the interface but way better than webmessenger... I hope live messenger developers will fix this problem for vista... I see on the web that i'm not the only one with this problem....
